Paying the truck toll

Do you currently have a fuel card or OBU? Follow these steps.

1. Consult the list of EETS and fuel card providers. Check whether the provider of your fuel card or onboard unit is listed.
2. Is your provider listed? Contact them and ask whether they will be providing contracts and onboard units for the Netherlands. Be sure to ask about their terms and conditions.

Is the provider of your fuel card or OBU not listed? Or do they not offer OBUs for the Netherlands? Proceed to step 1 of You do not have a fuel card or onboard unit.

OBUs by Satellic and Toll Collect cannot be used in the Netherlands
Do you have an OBU by Toll Collect from Germany or Satellic from Belgium? It will not work in the Netherlands. Proceed to step 1 You do not have a fuel card or onboard unit.

No fuel card or OBU? Follow these steps.

1. Contact service providers and enquire about the possibilities. They are happy to help. You can contact them via their websites.
2. Check what benefits service providers offer.

You can choose from the following providers:

• NedLinq: operating in the Netherlands only, no additional services and no extra costs (only a deposit for the OBU).
• EETS providers: operating in multiple countries, additional services and likely extra costs.

When registering with a provider, you will likely need the following vehicle details: 

• technical maximum mass (of the combination)
• CO2 emission class
• euro emission class (if the vehicle falls into CO2 emission class 1)

Be sure to have this information before registering. You may also need documents stating this information.

How to find the information

Vehicles with a Dutch registration number 

1. Go to our web page Dit gaat u betalen (available in Dutch only). 
2. Enter your registration number and date in the 'Vind het bedrag via uw kenteken' section. 
3. Once entered, your vehicle details will be displayed. 

Vehicles with a non-Dutch registration number 

Go to the 'Calculate your rate per kilometre' section on You will pay this amount and follow steps 1 and 2. 

Providers must meet certain requirements, for example in relation to their services, privacy, and security. The RDW assesses all providers against these requirements. If a provider meets all the criteria, the RDW admits the provider. All providers have demonstrated that they comply with these requirements.

Did you try to arrange a contract or an OBU through NedLinq before 1 July? Was this unsuccessful, and can you provide proof? If so, the following applies to you:

• You can drive as usual from 1 July. You will not receive a fine up to and including 7 July.
• NedLinq will resolve the issue with your contract.
• If you have not received an email, please contact NedLinq yourself.

Did you have concluded a contract with a service provider and are experiencing issues, for example with the delivery of the onboard unit? Then please contact that service provider. 

Is there a problem with your OBU? For example, if the indicator light is red or your OBU has been lost? Then you must do the following:

• Report the problem to your service provider immediately. On the Paying truck toll page, you can find an overview of all service providers.
• Make sure you have a working OBU installed in your cab within 3 hours. Unable to arrange this through your provider? Go to an OBU pick-up point.
• Activate your new OBU immediately.

Please note: If you drive with an OBU that is not working properly, you may receive a fine.

Service provider unknown

Do you not know who your OBU service provider is? You can often find the service provider's details on the front or back of the OBU, for example:

• Logo
• Telephone number
• QR code that you can scan with your phone

Is the vehicle no longer registered in your name? For example, because you have sold it? Then don't forget to deregister the vehicle with your toll service provider.

• The OBU  uses a satellite to determine the position of the truck (satellite navigation or GPS).
• The OBU sends the data to the provider.
• The provider uses that data to calculate your mileage on roads subject to the truck toll.
• You will receive your bill to pay the truck toll from the provider.
• The provider will forward the truck toll payments to the government.
