Dispensation and exemption

You may apply for a dispensation for these vehicles.

Vintage trucks 

Conditions: 

• The truck is 40 years or older and weighs more than 3,500 kg.  
• You only use the truck privately. Non-profit organisations can also apply for a dispensation. 

Police and fire vehicles 

Conditions: 

• The truck weighs more than 3,500 kg.  
• The truck is used by police or firefighters.

You can't apply for a dispensation at this time. As soon as it is possible, you will read about it on this website.  

Does your truck have a Dutch registration number and does it have an exemption? You don't need to do anything. You get the exemption automatically. Vehicles with an exemption don't pay truck toll.  

Registering European vehicles for exemption  

Does your truck have a registration number from a country other than the Netherlands? Apply for an exemption. You cannot do that yet. As soon as you can, you will read about it on this website.  

Vehicles with an exemption  

These trucks are exempt:

• electric trucks and vans (zero emission) up to 4,250 kg. 
• trucks with a one-day registration number 
• trucks with transition registration number (transit plate)  
• trucks with a professional vehicle registration number 
• trucks that are limited-speed motor vehicles (MMBS). 
• rubbish trucks 
• street sweepers  
• drain cleaners  
• defence vehicles
