- Motorhome with a non-Dutch registration.

Motorhomes with a Dutch registration are automatically exempt. You do not need to take any action.
- Classic trucks (40 years or older), used for private purposes only (including former fire vehicles).

- Rubbish truck, street sweeper or drain cleaner with a non-Dutch registration.

These vehicles with a Dutch registration are automatically exempt. You do not need to take any action.
- Electric truck or van (zero emission) up to and including 4,250 kg with a non-Dutch registration.

These vehicles with a Dutch registration are automatically exempt. You do not need to take any action.
- Truck with a non-Dutch transition registration number (transit plate).

These vehicles with a Dutch registration are automatically exempt. You do not need to take any action.
- Fire service vehicles used by a fire service.

Other vehicles
The following vehicles are also automatically exempt. You do not need to take any action:
- trucks with a Dutch one-day license plate
- trucks with a Dutch dealer license plate
- military vehicles
- If you apply for a dispensation and we approve it, you do not have to pay truck toll. In that case, you will not need an OBU.
- Does your vehicle have a Dutch registration and is it exempt? Then you do not need an OBU. You do not need to take any action.
- Does your vehicle have a non-Dutch registration and is it exempt in the Netherlands? Then register it for an exemption. By doing so, you help prevent it from possibly not being recognised correctly in the Netherlands. You will not need an OBU.
