Apply for a dispensation

Is your truck 40 years or older? Then you might get a dispensation. Trucks used by the police or fire department can also get a dispensation. If we approve your application, you don't need to pay truck toll.

This is something different from an exemption
Sometimes an exemption applies. For example, to electric trucks and vans up to 4,250 kg. Vehicles with a Dutch registration are automatically exempt. For vehicles with a non-Dutch registration you must first report the exemption.

Requirements

To get a dispensation, the vehicle must meet the following requirements.

Vintage trucks

The truck is .
You only use the truck privately.

Police and fire vehicles

The truck is used by police or firefighters.

As long as your application for dispensation is pending, you will have to pay truck toll. Applying for a dispensation is free of charge.

How to apply for dispensation

Apply for a dispensation
Fill in the requested information.
Upload a copy of the front and back of your vehicle registration certificate.

Also upload an authorisation, a statement or a private use declaration of use if you need one (see 'You are not the owner or user of the vehicle' and 'Vintage trucks').
Once we have received your application, you will receive an automatic e-mail.
We will review your application. Within 5 working days you will receive an e-mail from us with a link to the decision.

In these cases, you must provide additional information when applying for the dispensation. Please note that both situations may apply to you.

The vehicle is not registered to your name

Are you applying for the dispensation, but you are not the owner or keeper of the vehicle? In that case, you need a mandate from the owner or keeper of the vehicle. With this mandate, the owner or keeper declares that they authorise you to apply for dispensation.

The vehicle is not registered to the name of the user

Are you applying for the dispensation, but you are not the person using the vehicle? For example, because you have a leasing company or you manage a fleet? In that case, you need a statement of use from the user (police or fire brigade). This must show that the vehicle is used by the police or fire department.
