Arrange your OBU now!

The truck toll starts on 1 July. Make sure you sign a contract with an OBU provider before 31 May. This will give you enough time to receive and install the OBU before 1 July.

Apply for a dispensation

Is your truck 40 years or older? Then you might get a dispensation. Trucks used by the police or fire department can also get a dispensation. If we approve your application, you don't need to pay truck toll. In that case, you will not need an OBU.

This is something different from exemption
Sometimes an exemption applies. For example, to electric trucks and vans up to 4,250 kg. Vehicles with a Dutch registration are automatically exempt. For vehicles with a non-Dutch registration you must first report the exemption.

Requirements

To get a dispensation, the vehicle must meet the following requirements.

Classic trucks

The truck is .
You only use the truck privately.

Police vehicles

The truck is used by the police.

Fire service vehicles

The fire service vehicle is being used by one of these fire services:

Fire service of a safety region (veiligheidsregio).
Fire service organisations authorised to use the official fire service branding (only available in Dutch).
The fire brigade of a company designated by the safety region as being required to maintain a company fire brigade.

Once we have received your application, you will receive an automatic e-mail.
We will review your application. Within 5 working days you will receive an e-mail from us with a link to the decision.

Please always upload these documents with your application:

Copies or photos of the front and back of the vehicle registration certificate.
A completed PDF or a copy for the declaration of private use
This declares that you use the vehicle only privately (not for business).

Vehicle is not registered in your name

Are you applying for a dispensation for a fire service vehicle that is not registered in your name? In that case you will also need authorisation from the owner or holder of the vehicle. This confirms that you are authorised to apply for the dispensation.

You must upload the authorisation with your application (as a completed PDF or a copy).

Please always upload copies or photos of the front and back of the vehicle registration certificate.

No vehicle user

Are you applying for the dispensation, but you are not the person using the vehicle? For example, because you have a leasing company or you manage a fleet? In that case, you need a declaration of use from the user. This must show that the vehicle is used by the police.

You must upload the declaration with your application (as a completed PDF or a copy).

Vehicle is not registered in your name

Are you applying for a dispensation, but you are not the owner or keeper of the vehicle? In that case, you will also need authorisation from the owner or holder of the vehicle. This confirms that you are authorised to apply for the the dispensation.

You must upload the authorisation with your application (as a completed PDF or a copy).

No vehicle user

Is the fire service vehicle not registered in the name of a safety region (veiligheidsregio)? Or are you not the user of the vehicle? In that case you will need a declaration of use from the user. The declaration must confirm that the vehicle is in use by an official fire service or by a company legally required to maintain a company fire brigade.

You must upload the declaration with your application (as a completed PDF or a copy).
