Two new truck toll service providers have been admitted
The RDW has authorised two new EETS providers (European Electronic Toll Service) for truck tolls in the Netherlands: Axxès and tolltickets. This gives transporters a wide range of providers for the truck toll system, which starts on 1 July 2026.
The providers are familiar players on the European toll market. Axxès and tolltickets support transport companies with regard to toll payment and administration. The authorisation of these two EETS providers ensures a reliable and broad range of providers for the Dutch truck toll system.
Wide range: choose now
“This admission means we can provide even more freedom of choice for truck owners,” says Jan Strijk, Toll Collection Director at the RDW. “It is important that owners who have not yet made a choice do so now. As of 1 July 2026, all trucks in the Netherlands must have their own onboard unit.”
The RDW has previously admitted Toll4Europe, Telepass and TotalEnergies. In addition, NedLinq has been contracted as a service provider for onboard units that only work in the Netherlands. All providers can be found on Providers and OBUs.
Carefull assessment
The admission process consists of a careful assessment of the legal, financial and technical suitability of providers, followed by testing in practice. Elements that are reviewed include data exchange, information security and the performance of the onboard equipment.
Preparations for the introduction of the truck toll
The truck toll will start in the Netherlands on 1 July. Truck owners (category N2 and N3) will pay per kilometre from that date. Every truck must have its own onboard unit that works in the Netherlands before 1 July. From 1 July, checks will be carried out to ensure that trucks have a working onboard unit. A large part of truck toll revenue will go to subsidies for electric trucks and charging infrastructure.
