Temporary reduction of truck toll rates due to high fuel prices

On 23 April 2026, the Dutch House of Representatives requested the government to temporarily reduce the truck toll rates, due to high fuel prices. The government is assessing within what timeframe this can be implemented and is working out the temporary rates. The government will also consult with the transport sector. Once the temporarily reduced rates and the period during which they apply have been determined, this will be communicated.

Truck toll starts on 1 July

The truck toll in the Netherlands starts on 1 July 2026. To pay the truck toll, truck owners need an on-board unit (OBU) from a service provider. Many owners have already arranged this. Owners who have not yet prepared need to take action now. More information about service providers can be found at Providers and OBUs.
