Subsidies for emission-free trucks again in 2026
The well-known Zero-Emission Truck Procurement (AanZET) will reopen on 27 January. AanZET reimburses part of the additional costs for a new zero-emission truck. Businesses and non-profit organizations in the Netherlands can apply for this subsidy if they wish to purchase or financial lease a new zero-emission truck. The subsidy programme has been readjusted to distribute the available subsidy more evenly.
The AanZET subsidy programme partially covers the additional costs of a new electric or hydrogen truck. The subsidy amount depends on the vehicle's sales price, the vehicle category, and the size of the company or non-profit organization. Smaller organizations receive proportionally more subsidy. This year, for the first time, AanZET will be funded entirely from revenues generated by the truck toll, which will begin on 1 July 2026.
The subsidy programme will launch on Tuesday 27 January 2026, although you can already submit a draft application from 16 January. 78 million euro is available for this round. For more information or to apply for the subsidy, please visit Rvo.nl/aanzet (in Dutch).
Important changes
Some new rules apply to this new round for AanZET. These adjustments are intended to ensure a more fair distribution of the available subsidy.
Maximum number of applications per working day:
- 27 and 28 January 2026: one application per company, for a maximum of two zero-emission trucks.
- From 29 January 2026: one application per company, for a maximum of ten zero-emission trucks.
On 29 September 2026, AanZET will reopen, as in previous years. The budget for this second round is not yet known.
Sustainability:
The truck toll in the Netherlands starts on 1 July 2026. Just like in neighbouring countries, truck owners will pay a fee per kilometre driven on motorways and certain provincial and municipal roads. Emission-free trucks will receive a significant discount. A large portion of the revenue from the truck toll will be used for subsidies for making the transport sector more sustainable and innovative, such as AanZET. Please be aware these subsidies are only available for companies, that are located (entirely or with a branch) in the Netherlands. These subsidies will reduce CO2 emissions from freight transport in the Netherlands.
